Dundee City Council is embracing design thinking and service design techniques through a new initiative – The City of Design Academy training & mentoring programme. In the last 12 months, Open Change has worked in partnership with Dundee City Council to leverage its UNESCO City of Design designation to champion service design, building capacity and communities of people to co-design the services they need. Beginning with a City of Design Academy for city leaders, we have developed programmes together to improve attainment in schools and support people into employment.
Steven Kyle, Programme Manager for Dundee City Council’s Changing for the Future Programme and Hazel from Open Change discussed these initiatives at the Service Design in Government Conference in London.
Mike Press from Open Change discusses how service design can make a big difference in a small city here.
