Empathy Mapping

Empathy Mapping

Empathy Map helps you see the users’ perspectives by documenting what they see, hear, do, and feel. Draw the person whose point of view you want to understand in the the central circle and fill in the template imagining you are that person.

What

Empathy Maps document the world from a client’s point of view – what do they see and hear, what might motivate them or hold them back?

Why

Empathy is essential to human centred design approaches. Understanding how other people experience the world helps identify problems worth solving. It also enables people designing services to consider those excluded from current service provision.

How

Empathy Map is used either prior to interviewing people or when necessary as a substitute.
Draw the person whose point of view you want to understand in the the central circle and fill in the template imagining you are that person.
