We have worked on a range of healthcare projects. Some of these have focused on training and education of healthcare professionals including one day workshops for GPs, service design leadership events for senior managers and clinicians, and a two day education and management programme for clinicians and others working in diabetes care in Kuwait. Large scale events we have organised and facilitated include a one day event on designing healthy weight commissioned by the public health team at NHS Tayside and the design and facilitation of the Scottish Quality and Safety Fellowship (SQSF) Annual Event.

We have worked with senior healthcare professionals on projects around the Realistic Medicine agenda, and our work was included in the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Scotland’s Annual Report 2017. We were also invited to address the CMO’s conference on Realistic Medicine. Our Senior Associate, Rodney Mountain, is an NHS Cancer Surgeon with whom we have collaborated on a number of these projects. In the video above, he describes how his journey into service design has transformed his work. As he explains, a service design approach can play a vital role in creating empathy, empowering staff, patients and carers. It compliments other improvement methodologies and supports integrated approaches to create positive journeys through health and social care.
